Rodarte Curates A Magazine

Featuring Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning.

The Mulleavy's two-hundred page lovesong for California has landed. The Rodarte designers are the latest to curate A Magazine, a limited edition independent title previously curated by Proenza Schouler, Yohji Yamamoto and Maison Martin Margiela, among others.

Kate and Laura dedicate the title's eleventh issue to their singular, sun-toned impression of America, marked specifically by memories of their childhood growing up in Santa Cruz.

The issue 8 Kirsten Dunst wearing pieces from the Rodarte AW11 collection, shot by Robert Armstrong in his Bed-Stuy brownstone. Elle Fanning, meanwhile, wears Rodarte SS12 for photographer Bill Owens. The shoot (available below) is total Californian beach suburbia, all palm leaves, cobble-stone interiors, feathered gowns, daisy chains and one very covetable Pearl Jam t-shirt.

In addition to never-before-seen pictures and interviews from the Rodarte archives, the girls have also included work by contemporary artists Jay DeFeo and John Baldessari, plus a contribution from god-amongst-men Joss Whedon.

You can buy A#11 now and also, for those lucky enough to be in the vicinity, visit a J.Crew store in January for copies signed by Kate and Laura Mulleavy.
