Sam Stephenson 'The Future Just Happened' DIY Tattoo Exhibition
Opening tonight!
Sydney-based self-taught photographer Sam Stephenson takes candid and disarming photos of skaters, bong-smokers and kids passed out at house parties. To say that he consciously documents youth culture takes some of the magic away from his work — it's perhaps better to say that he just hangs out, carries a camera on him and somehow (as if by wearing the invisibility cloak from Harry Potter) gets himself involved in crazy situations.
His new show, The Future Just Happened, is all about DIY tattoo subculture aka his friends giving each other stick-and-poke tattoos in their bedrooms. Here's a teaser video to give you a taste of what to expect (if needles make you queasy, be prepared to feel queasy):
The Future Just Happened opens tonight at 6pm at 80 Oxford St, Darlinghurst, Sydney. The exhibition runs until 25 November from 12pm — 6pm daily.
