Saskia de Brauw x Saint Laurent Men's Campaign SS13
Aptly called 'The Saint Laurent Boy Is A Girl'.
Dutch model Saskia de Brauw is an unlikely face of the SS13 Saint Laurent men's campaign mostly because, you know, she's a she. "Contraversha!" as the fashion world would say. But Hedi Slimane's decision to use a female model to front a menswear campaign is about more than mere shock tactics — it pays homage to the label's signature androgynous style. Yves did invent the Le Smoking tuxedo in 1966 after all.
The campaign, which was shot and styled by Hedi in LA last month, follows on from the aesthetic of previous campaigns we've seen so far from the rebranded fashion house, all moody and monochrome. In the credits of the campaign, the hair is described as 'model’s own' and Saskia apparently wears no make-up.
Now we just need Andrej Pejić to front the women's campaign...
