Brad Pitt is the first of his gender in the history of Chanel N°5 to represent the fragrance. First announced in May, the unprecedented but not unlikely pairing has had us all in a tether, and speculation last week suggested that the video campaign might have seen Brad engaging in direct conversation with a bottle of the perfume. The reality sees him talking directly to camera about very important existential truths and maybe trying to hypnotise you (staring directly into your soul).
In a statement made via Chanel, Brad attributes the success of the fragrance to it being "elegantly simple and complex at the same time." And that is exactly what this video campaign, shot by Steven Klein (who also shot a dreadlocked Brad for Interview Magazine), is — elegantly simple and complex at the same time.
