MBFWA Review & Backstage: Flannel
It felt like being in the 1920s expect for the fact that everyone was live blogging.
Last night, Flannel held something of a soiree for the presentation of its SS12/13 collection, ‘Neronis’. It took place at Bite Club — an old Woollahra mansion which is also sometimes a restaurant. Someone does live there; I know this because I accidentally looked into their laundry. The lighting was soft and dim, there were candles and flowers everywhere, and I think violin music was playing although I may have imagined this. Models swanned around just generally being beautiful wearing the new Flannel pieces, which had lots of sequins, pinks and golds, and included dresses of the gown variety and silk pajama suits. It felt like being in the 1920s expect for the fact that everyone was live blogging. The experience could be likened to going to one of those themed restaurants on the Gold Coast but was different in that it was not tacky at all and was in fact entirely tasteful.
A tally of the Oyster team's efforts for the evening:
Bread rolls eaten — 5
Glasses of wine consumed — 1 million
In three words:
Hello, Great Gastby.
