Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 12 Lookbook
A continued love of contrasts.
Stella McCartney continued her love of contrasts for Pre-Fall 12. There was, of course, the fusion of masculine and feminine that has become part of her signature aesthetic, but this season the designer also explored the interplay between city and country. Her presentation itself was decidedly city - taking place at upscale New York West Village restaurant One If By Land, Two If By Sea and filled with models posing in the new collection while sipping cocktails and playing pool - but the clothes themselves are far less exclusive. If anyone knows the importance of clothes you can actually wear, it's designer/mother/eco-activist Stella, and these are things you could wear while doing all three of those jobs.
The city element is seen here in sharp tailoring, starchy collars and structured and buttoned blazers, while high-cut riding pants and buffalo-plaid capes provide their counterparts. And it wouldn't be Stella without a playful print thrown in for good measure.
