sydney gets graphic
This August, things will be getting graphic at the Sydney Opera House. Officials have announced a brand new festival and online competition to celebrate the imaginations of visionaries in the fields of graphic storytelling, comics, animation and illustrations.
GRAPHIC, August 7th to 8th, will feature specially commissioned productions, musical responses to graphic art and panel discussions with local and international industry representatives such as fantasy novelist Neil Gaiman. The writer will be reading his un-published The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains with a live underscore from Australian string quartet FourPlay.
Sydney Opera House, with Screen NSW and Hackett Films, will also be launching a world-wide online competition open to illustrators, storytellers and animators with a total cash prize of $20,000. For more information, visit www.sydneyoperahouse.com/graphic.
