Tavi Gevinson Signs to Hollywood Agency; Set to Star in Feature Film

Gives James Franco's CV a run for its money.
Tavi shot by Petra Collins for Oyster #99

What were you doing when you were 16? Perhaps (like me) you were spending way too much time modifying your Myspace layout, and concentrating all of your energy into building amazing houses on The Sims while living off bowls of Mi Goreng to sustain you. You probably were not editing a much-needed online magazine for teenage girls with a readership of one million and inking your first Hollywood acting deal (but if you were — props).

Making James Franco look lazy since 2012, Tavi Gevinson (who we featured in #99) has been signed to major Hollywood agency UTA, and is set to star in her first feature film fresh off her Urban Outfitters Road Trip. Because singing, doing voiceovers for animations, speaking at TED, and hosting fashion parties isn't enough, clearly. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tavi will play Chloe, "an only child who never received much attention from her parents, forcing her to grow up faster than her peers" in the film by writer/director Nicole Holofcener (who has worked on Sex and the City, Gilmore Girls and Friends With Money). She will star alongside Australian actress Toni Collette, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, James Gandolfini, and Catherine Keener.

It's not yet known when the movie will commence filming, but Tavi's got a lot on her plate what with Rookie's upcoming print edition, New York Fashion Week just around the corner and, er, high school.
