The Eternal Feminine
This summer, the National Gallery of Victoria will be celebrating the works of French Symbolist painter, Gustave Moreau (1826-1898). The exhibition, entitled Gustave Moreau and the Eternal Feminine, will open on the 10th of December and is the first significant exhibition of Moreau's work to take place in the Southern hemisphere. Featuring 117 paintings, watercolours and drawings, the works have been selected from the Musee Gustave-Moreau in Paris, and include Moreau's unique depictions of the female form, often in mysterious and evocative historical and mythical contexts. The exhibition will be open until April 2011.
