Tom Ford Opens Australian Branch

The menswear designer launches down under as part of Harrolds.

Tom Ford rescued Gucci from the brink of bankruptcy, launched his own bespoke line, and directed A Single Man (the Oscar-nominated film), all the while maintaining his trademark rugged yet handsome face stubble. He's now launched his first ever Australian menswear store. You'll find it - and Ford's tailored suits, ready-to-wear collections, leather goods, shoes, bags, and accessories - in Sydney's luxury mens department store Harrolds.

The store-within-a-store was designed by Ford and his longtime collaborator, Bill Sofield. Much like Ford's clothes (and ad campaigns) the fit-out is sexy and sleek - there's polished ebony, marble, chrome, and mirrored walls. The cabinets and carpets were imported from Europe and master craftsmen traveled to Sydney to complete the installation. The retail experience for the gentlemen clientele promises to be just as luxurious. Tom Ford's own master tailor, Mr. Antonio Blazevic, will be making a special trip down under once a year make made-to-measure suits.

You'll find the Tom Ford store at Harrolds Westfield Sydney, L3 Castlereagh St, Sydney, 2000. A Tom Ford store in Harrolds Melbourne, located at 101 Collins Street, is planned for late 2012.
