Top 5: Bizarre Beauty Trends

How horny does your lipstick say you are?

1) The lips say yes

Forget roses, bottles of champagne or lavish dinners, boys. A UK cosmetics company is taking all the guess work out of dating with the release of Mood Lipstick, a product that lets you know if your lady is in the mood for lovin'. According to the experts, Mood Lipstick works by reacting with a woman's body chemistry, changing colour to match her level of arousal. Be sure to keep your colour charts handy, though, lest you mistake a lady's disinterested, clear gloss for her randy crimson. Somehow I don't think the argument, "But her lipstick said 'yes'" will fly in a courtroom.

Magnetic Manicure

UK nail brand Nails Inc. is set to release a new polish called Magnetic Attraction. Not only does the product come in three metallic shades - gold, gray and purple - but it also comes with a magnet embedded in the cap! I know, all you could have ever asked for, right? This polish is not your average chemist brand of easy-chip varnish, Magnetic Attraction actually contains iron powder and, after applying a coat, you simply hold the magnet over the surface to obtain a psychedelic rippled effect. I wonder what they'll come up with next: magnets embedded under your fingernails? Perhaps Magneto isn't so fictional after all.

Glitter Tattoos

California-based company Glimmer Body Art are making a splash in the states with their covetable glitter tattoos. Apparently, you can even host your own Glitter Tattoo Parties if you so desire. A cheap and simple alternative to the traditional method, these shimmery adornments are applied using a stencil, a little hypoallergenic skin adhesive and a whole lot of glitter. The tats last about one week and are not for the fainthearted. Take a cue from Lady Gaga or Lily Allen, both of whom have braved the trend.

Faeces Facial

These days, facial treatments utilise everything from human placenta to diamonds (and no, we're not kidding!). The Shizuka Day Spa in New York is just one inventive clinic incorporating nature into its beauty routines. Renowned for their Geisha Facial, otherwise known (even on their own website) as 'The Bird Poop Facial' - yep, Shizuka's magic ingredient is none other than bird poop, and it will (allegedly) give you the porcelain glow of a Japanese Geisha. A favourite of Victoria and David Beckham, the process is simple, really: nightingale droppings are sterilised, ground into a powder and then mixed with rice bran and water to neutralise the smell and, hey presto, you're a gorgeous geisha with poo on your face. Apparently the droppings contain natural enzymes that break down dead skin cells and cleanse the skin (I think I'll stick to my Cetaphil, but thanks for the offer). Sadly, there is no Shizuka in Australia yet but, don't despair because there are an awful lot of pigeons in Hyde Park. If it's good enough for Posh and Becks...

Vajazzling

Looking for a way to spice up your love life? Well this is one step further than glitter tats. Once you've lured your man into bed with your chemically-activated Mood Lipstick, why not surprise him with a little razzle dazzle down there? Vajazzling involves having tiny rhinestones glued to your bikini area in all manner of creative shapes. If you're really out to impress though, some beauty salons will use Swarovski crystals instead of rhinestones. You know what they say? if you've got it, you might as well flaunt it (and if it's good enough for Jennifer Love Hewitt, it's good enough for me).
