top 5: marriage inspiration at the met ball
Who got carried away with Royal Wedding fever?
1) Having handcrafted the fashion moment of the year, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen went a bit too bridal in a dress that made her look like a cross between J. K. Rowling and a Vestal Virgin of the wizarding world. Although the gown was probably a K-Middz reject, so perhaps it's better that it turned up at the Met Ball rather than on the commemorative dinner plates of millions.
2) Andre Leon Talley of US Vogue looked to Westminster's choirboys in a fetching cerulean robe-cum-muumuu.
3) In an ivory gown and Philip Treacy fascinator, Serena Williams seemed to have taken inspiration from Duchess Catherine's dress and Princess Eugenie's exceptional headpiece in order to create the ultimate in Royal Wedding chic.
4) In head-to-toe white chiffon, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Fergie was intending to renew her vows on the red carpet.
5) Naomi Campbell was every bit the pseudo-blushing bride in a pure white McQueen creation which looked to have been shredded to within an inch of its life by a ravenous lion. Well, they do say love is a battlefield.
