top 5: weird trends from nyfw

Take note: painted hair and cling film skirts are the next big things.

Oyster brings you our favourite bizarre new trends from New York Fashion Week. Outfits crafted from household items, paint used as hair product and underwear-flashing pants are among those that make the cut.

Day-glo painted hair at Thakoon

The painted hair trend popped up a few times during New York Fashion Week, but few were as creative as Thakoon, who used day-glo to paint the hair of his models.

Cling film skirts at Marc Jacobs

If you thought Glad Wrap was only good for one thing, Marc Jacobs will teach you otherwise! So if you can't afford to splash out on one of these cling film MJ skirts for yourself, why not get crafty with this readily-available household item?

Not-so-strategic cut outs at Jeremy Scott

We still can't really work these ones out. Evidently, Scott was thinking of all those girls out there who wish to exhibit their bellies (for the pregnant amongst us perhaps?) and of men just dying to show off their pastel underpants.

Pop-coloured lips and orange eyeshadow at Richard Chai Love

The models at Richard Chai rocked bright blue and purple lipstick (sometimes colour-coordinated with their outfits) and eyeshadow in a colour normally reserved for prison suits? perhaps most surprising was the fact that it worked!

Wet hair at Alexander Wang

Who needs hairdryers and straightening irons when you can jump straight out of the shower and look as great as the models over at Alexander Wang? Well, maybe we can't all look that good with wet hair, but it's nice for some.
