Oystervision: Karen Walker FW12 NYFW Interview
We were invited backstage at Karen Walker's NYFW show. Her presentation for FW12's 'Sea Monsters' collection marks the New Zealand designer's twentieth international solo show. As she explains to Oyster, "This collection's really Captain Nemo meets Brian Jones". There's an overall mod vibe to the collection, with paisley and swirling wallpaperish prints, metallics, brocade, soft angora sweaters, velvet, acid brights and high, ruffled collars. This season also sees a continuation of Karen Walker's collab with footwear label Beau Coops, where chains embellish Chelsea boots. See our interview with the designer here:
