Watch: Animal Collective Time-Lapse Video
The entire recording process for Strawberry Jam in under ten minutes.
Animal Collective have released a video that condenses the recording process for their 2007 album, Strawberry Jam, to just nine minutes. It's a time-lapse clip, which means there's lots of skittering around, sped-up knob tweaking and impossibly fast cymbal bashing. It comes courtesy of the band's sound engineer, Scott Colburn, who set up a video camera at Wave Lab Studios and captured each and every recording session in a green-tinged glow. It might just be us, or do the chopped up snippets of audio sound a lot like Animal Collective usually do? Fans can look forward to more weird noise pop in the not too distant future — the band attached a note to the video, which says that they start recording their new album next week.
