Watch: Hairdressers Work Their Magic at Shibui Hair Salon
Snippity snip!
Shibui have collaborated with C-KOL productions on a short film that demonstrates the mad skills of the hairdressers at the hair salon. Shibui Hands focuses on the stylists' hands (duh) and all of the elements involved in creating a dream hairstyle.
The black-and-white film shows close-ups of the processes involved in hairdressing, reflective of the salon's attention to detail, and just like no two sets of hands are alike, the hairdresses at Shibui are also individuals in their own right. The salon bases itself around the Japanese idea of uncomplicated and uncontrived beauty.
There is also a very clever soundtrack that uses the sounds one would expect to hear in a salon. You know, snippity snip, hair dryer blasts, and razor buzzes, all of which are rhythmically sampled. Oh, and there are lot of pretty girls getting their hair did.
Shibui is located at 139 Toorak Road, South Yarra, Victoria and its owners (Rob Hastie and Tracey Colebrook) also styled the hair for our August Beauty Daily shoot.
