Watch: 'July' By Youth Lagoon
Small town middle America apocalypse.
Youth Lagoon is twenty-two-year-old Trevor Powers, first garnering our attention with debut LP The Year of Hibernation released last September. One of the standout tracks off this small masterpiece thought-up from a bedroom somewhere in Boise, Idaho, was 'July', an ambient offering with equally eerie and dreamy vocals. The accompanying video has just been released, enlisting once more director Tyler T Williams who was also behind Youth Lagoon's first video 'Montana'. The 'July' clip has a small town middle America atmosphere, but ends up being apocalyptic, which (considering our weakness for anything coming-of-age related) could be an extended metaphor for the struggle between adolescence and adulthood in the context of suffocating suburbia. Either way, check it out below:
Youth Lagoon will play at The Toff in Melbourne on February 15, and at Sydney's Oxford Art Factory on February 16.
