Watch: Kenzo x DIS Magazine
A fashion film inspired by stock photos!
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon of Opening Ceremony have commissioned the multimedia art kids at DIS Magazine to film Kenzo's latest project. Based around Kenzo's FW12 menswear collection and doubling as comedy/social commentary, 'Watermarked' takes its inspiration from stock photography. If you are unfamiliar with the phenomenon, it is a type of photography that will depict a diverse group of men group hugging and smiling just a little too enthusiastically or women laughing alone with salad. The film's soundtrack is actually a piece of stock music, aptly titled 'Power Lunch 2'.
The hyper-real hunk RJ King even makes an appearence as one of the lunching stockbrokers/fashionable Ayn Rand fantasies. But these guys aren't all business; they also have a lot of feelings. Feelings that make them shake hands often and cuddle in slow motion. Classic office attire is given a fantasical East-meets-West spin through graphic prints, modern structure and crisp tailoring. Could Kenzo's laissez-faire love letter to 2012 — directed by Marco Roso and also starring the un-attainably attractive Alex Michael, Claudio Monteiro, Jae Yoo and Salieu Jalloh — possibly be the smartest and funniest fashion film yet? We say yes! Now let us all shake hands on it and maybe go play some badminton.
Stay tuned for DIS' appearance in Oyster #101 — on sale soon!
