Watch: 'Last Goodbye' By The Kills

A commemoration of the band's 10th anniversary.

The Kills have released a video for their latest single 'Last Goodbye' commemorating ten years of the band's being. Premiering on NOWNESS, the video is shot on black and white 35mm film, showing the ineffably cool Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince posing together in a photobooth. The clip is directed by actress Samantha Morton (In America, Minority Report, Morvern Callar), who made her directorial debut with The Unloved in 2009. The song itself, which appears on last years' Blood Pressures, is quite a different sound from The Kills compared to earlier garage-rock stuff like 'Black Rooster' (from 2003's Keep on Your Mean Side) and drum machine-based dancey songs like 'Cheap and Cheerful' (Midnight Boom in 2008). 'Last Goodbye' is something of an epic ballad steeped in nostalgia and heartache, with Mosshart explaining of the track to NOWNESS, "Life goes on. It starts off being the end of the world but then ends up alright."

The video on NOWNESS is accompanied by Mosshart and Hince sharing recollections of working together over the past decade. "When I first met him I thought he was the coolest guy in the world; I was completely fascinated by him," Mosshart explains of her bandmate, while Hince says of the lead singer, "The first time I saw her perform was like watching Patti Smith for the first time."
