Watch: Roman Polanski x Prada

See the film released at Cannes starring Helena Bonham Carter and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Prada debuted their latest foray into cinemat at Cannes yesterday, a short called 'A Therapy'. It's directed by none other than Roman Polanski, otherwise known as the sex pest who makes genius films like Rosemary's Baby and Tess (the latter which also screened alongside the short). He's veered from the psychological thrillers here, and followed Miucca's presumably awesome brief to create a playful, gorgeous short film that venerates the classic coat.

Helena Bonham 'kooky' Carter plays a wealthy Prada-toting patient, while Ben Kingsley plays her psychoanalyst who harbours a fur fetish, or at the least, a tacile nature and great taste. Helena's character goes on at length about her father (because she's clearly got some work to do there), but the psychoanalyst is distracted by the Prada coat to the point of trying it on and posing glamorously in front of the mirror. Cue the tagline "Prada suits everyone."

Obviously, the crowd at Cannes all chuckled merrily into their champagne flutes and chirps of "brava!" could be heard throughout the audience. That's how we imagine it going down, anyway. Polanksi told the Hollywood Reporter, "When I was asked to shoot a short movie for Prada, I did not think that could really be myself, but the reality is that in the total freedom I was given, I had the opportunity to reunite my favourite group of people on set and just have fun." Props to the director, for staying true to his filmic roots while making what is also a killer advertisement.
