Watch: Scanlan & Theodore x Daan Roosegaarde

This year's Biennale of Sydney challenges the idea that artwork should be seen but not touched: in fact, many of the pieces were created with audience participation in mind. One of the best pieces on show is a large-scale installation piece called 'Dune' by Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde. Iconic Australian label Scanlan & Theodore have sponsored his interactive artwork and it is a veritable landscape in size and beauty. At 42 metres long, the coral-like tendrils that make up the artwork, visibly react to people's movements and behaviour as they walk through the piece and interact with its pretty lights. Roosegaarde's creation is composed of hundreds of fibre optic strands, that glow brighter depending on the human sounds and motion going on around it. As the artist himself says on the Scanlan's website, "Visitors become a poetic participant with the interactive artwork's identity."
