Watch: The Cherry Trailer
James Franco & Ashley Hinshaw star in film about porn industry.
The trailer for upcoming film Cherry has just been released. Starring model-turned-actress Ashley Hinshaw, alongside James Franco, Dev Patel and Heather Graham, Cherry follows the brash inauguration of 18-year-old Angelina (Hinshaw) into the porn industry. After running away from her alcoholic mother with her best friend (Patel), Angelina works as a waitress in a strip club. Young, impressionable and seemingly without any sense of direction, it is there that Angelina is enamoured by Frances (Franco) (and how could you not be?), a lawyer and large-living cocaine enthusiast who is, in all senses of the word, an attractive personification of the adult world. Taking on the pseudonym Cherry, Angelina is mentored by Margaret (Graham), herself an ex-performer.
To add to the authenticity of the film, Cherry was shot in the San Francisco Armory, which, at 250,000 square feet, is the largest adult film studio in the world - just in case you were wondering. Stephen Elliot, a former sex worker and author of seven books, makes his directorial debut with this film, also writing it along with porn performer, writer and New York University lecturer Lorelei Lee (now imagine having that on your CV).
Check out the trailer below, which, despite some top-tiered names, has an intriguingly lo-fi vibe to it (plus Franco with facial hair, which is probably of great importance to you):
