War painted wookies dance with androgynous leather clad ladies at Zambesi's New Zealand Fashion Week Show.

Zambesi AW2011 @ New Zealand Fashion Week

War-painted wookies and androgynous, leather clad warriors stalked the runways at Zambesi's AW11 show at New Zealand Fashion Week. A hexagon motif runs throughout the collection, which designer and label-founder Liz Findlay explains originated with this year's "soccer ball bag" ? also the inspiration for the interesting masonic symbol featured here and there, which looks somewhat like the Star of David. If you're a staunch greenie, there's no need to stress about the fur scarves; they're fake, but incredibly soft. Liz also showed us that many of the black and white striped garments are also available in a much more subtle black on black stripe ? a perfect way for Zambesi to ensure commercial viability without compromising Liz's vision too much. Most garments ? as one can usually expect from Zambesi ? can be twisted and worn in different ways too.

This year, hair direction for the show was by Tigi's Creative Director Grant Nortan. www.tigihaircare.com
