Yellow Dogs Release New EP

Plus the band, originally from Tehran, is granted asylum status in the US.

Yellow Dogs have released a new EP and have also been granted asylum status in the US. Originally from Iranian capital Tehran, the post-punk band formed in 2007 and rehearsed in secret from the Islamic government. They moved to Brooklyn after being featured in a documentary about the underground music scene in their home city, called No One Knows About Persian Cats, which made them red-hot to Islamic authorities. After residing in the US for a few years, they’ve just released their second EP, Upper Class Complexity, available now exclusively through eMusic (it will be available everywhere else after May 8). The bandmates  – Obash, Looloosh and Koory – have also recently been granted asylum status by the US government so they’ll now be able to tour internationally more freely and have plans to play a string of US shows, as well as traveling to Turkey, Israel, Europe and Australia.
